On October 10, 2025, the XV All-Ukrainian Conference of Young Scientists, Students, and Postgraduates on Topical Issues of Chemistry concluded in Kharkiv at the Institute of Functional Materials Chemistry of the State Scientific Institution “Institute for Single Crystals” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Over four days (October 7–10), young researchers and students from leading universities and scientific institutions across Ukraine participated in a hybrid format — both in person and online.
A total of 58 oral presentations were delivered, covering the most relevant areas of modern chemical science — from the synthesis of organic compounds and nanomaterials to the latest methods of analytical chemistry.
Among the participants were representatives from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Lviv, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, and other Ukrainian cities.
As tradition dictates, the conference concluded with the selection of the best presentations by young scientists, whose authors received gifts from the event’s partners — Enamin and Himlaborreaktyv (HLR) companies.

Conference Winners
1st place — Tetiana Savluk, student of National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, conducting research at the IFMC, SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of NASU.
2nd place — Andrii Vashchenko, student of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, also working at the IFMC, SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of NASU;
Mikita Kordubailo, postgraduate student of the Institute of Organic Chemistry NAS of Ukraine.
3rd place — Vladyslav Vereshchak, postgraduate student of the IFMC, SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of NASU;
Oleksandr Rebrov, PhD, Institute for Scintillation Materials NAS of Ukraine;
Mikita Ivanytsia, postgraduate student of the L.V. Pisarzhevsky Institute of Physical Chemistry NAS of Ukraine.
A special prize for the best applied presentation from the Chair of the Program Committee — Academician of NAS of Ukraine and Director of the IFMC, SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of NASU, Prof. Valentyn Chebanov — was awarded to Yevhenii Dikhtiariuk, postgraduate student of the O.O. Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry NAS of Ukraine.
Plenary Lectures and Workshops
With the informational support of the Kharkiv Chemical Seminar, participants had the opportunity to attend lectures by prominent scientists:
- Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn (University of Strasbourg, France), Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, who shared his vision of the development of chemistry of complex systems — from simple molecules to self-organized materials;
- Prof. Oleksandr Hryhorenko (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), who discussed fluorine-containing cyclic compounds and their potential in drug design;
- Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine Serhii Kolotilov (L.V. Pisarzhevsky Institute of Physical Chemistry NAS of Ukraine), who presented advances in metal nanoparticle catalysts for hydrogenation reactions.
Within the framework of the conference, and with the support of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine project “SupraKha,” a series of hands-on scientific workshops were conducted by researchers of the IFMC, SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of NASU:
- “Dry It Smart!” — led by Olga Kolosova, where participants learned about the principles of lyophilization and the operation of the Martin Christ Alpha 3-4 LSCbasic freeze dryer;
- “Peak of Efficiency” — conducted by Viacheslav Saraiev and Alvard Timonina, featured practical sessions in gas and liquid chromatography, where participants performed real analytical measurements;
- “Magnetic Music of Molecules” — Oleksandr Zbruyev and Yana Sakhno demonstrated the capabilities of NMR spectroscopy for determining the structure of organic compounds.
These four days became a true celebration of science — filled with inspiration, new acquaintances, and discoveries. They passed quickly but left behind an enduring sense of energy and confidence in the future of Ukrainian science!
