Presentation by Ph.D. Marharyta Cherniakova at the Meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

On January 13, 2026, a meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held, at which a scientific presentation was delivered by a young researcher of the Institute of Functional Materials Chemistry of the SSI, Doctor of Philosophy Marharyta Cherniakova.

The topic of her presentation, “Deep Eutectic Solvents: Prospects for Chemical Materials Science,” aroused keen interest among the participants. In her report, Margarita Cherniakova presented the results of state-of-the-art research on extraction systems based on deep eutectic solvents. She focused in detail on the features of phase equilibrium and intermolecular structure of such systems, proposed approaches to their functionalization, and demonstrated the high efficiency of these solutions in the extraction of transition metal ions, including toxic ones.

Members of the Bureau of the Department of Materials Science of the NAS of Ukraine noted the scientific maturity of the research, its practical value, and its broad prospects for application in materials science, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology and medicine, as well as in metallurgy and engineering.

The presentation became yet another vivid confirmation that young scientists of our Institution confidently demonstrate a high level of professional achievement, combining deep knowledge, modern scientific approaches, and a genuine passion for their work.
