Kharkiv Chemical Seminar Video Materials to Become Part of the German National Library of Science and Technology Collections.

We have some pleasant and important news: video materials from Kharkiv Chemical Seminar will be included in the collections of Non-Textual Materials of the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB).

The relevant agreement was signed on August 3 this year between the Seminar coordinator Valentyn Chebanov and German National Library of Science and Technology. This marks a new stage in the development of Kharkiv Chemical Seminar and ensures the long-term preservation of its video archive in one of Europe’s leading scientific and technical libraries.

From now on, recordings of presentations from Kharkiv Chemical Seminar will have international accessibility and greater opportunities for dissemination among the global scientific community. This cooperation is an important recognition of the scientific value of the seminar’s materials and another step toward integrating Ukrainian science into the global scientific information space.
Kharkiv Chemical Seminar was launched on April 21, 2022 — just two months after the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Despite constant shelling, blackouts, and extremely difficult working conditions, scientists at SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine continued their professional communication and created a platform for sharing contemporary scientific results.

As noted by the founder and coordinator of Kharkiv Chemical Seminar, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine and Professor Valentyn Chebanov: “For every scientist, it is important to remain part of the global scientific community, maintain professional connections, and have access to the research results of colleagues. This is especially important today, when, due to the war, a significant number of Ukrainian scientists do not have the opportunity to fully participate in international conferences. That is why Kharkiv Chemical Seminar has become not just a series of scientific seminars, but a space for communication, exchange of ideas, and support for international scientific connections. I would like to thank all the speakers, participants, and colleagues who have created the history of Kharkiv Chemical Seminar over the years. Together, we support Ukrainian science and make it more visible in the world!”

Over more than four years, Kharkiv Chemical Seminar has become a respected scientific platform bringing together scientists from Ukraine and other countries. The war did not stop communication between our scientists and their colleagues; on the contrary, it encouraged them to seek new formats for such interaction.

The seminar’s video archive will be transferred to the TIB collections for long-term preservation and access by researchers in different countries. This will make it possible to integrate these materials into the international scientific information space.
